Ok, perhaps this isn’t one for our current Covid-infested world, but maybe sometime in the future the arcades will be fully open and safe and you can venture out to spend a date night there! Who knows, maybe by the time Valentine’s Day rolls around we’ll all be vaccinated and everything will be back to normal. Just don’t get your hopes up.
Pokemon Go
Before I talk about this one, I should ask whether Pokemon Go is even still a thing? I mean I assume the app is still running, but do people still play it? If you don’t, then why not relive that 2017 nostalgia and redownload the game and go venturing off into the wilderness together searching for Pokemon.
Sure, it’s winter and it’s cold, but that’s all part of the romance, right?
Bedroom Cosplay
Do you like gaming but also want to spice things up a bit since it’s for Valentine’s Day? Then why not mix the “funky time” with some gaming Cosplay?
One of you could be Mario and the other could Luigi and you could do the whole “oh, here’s the plumber to look at my pipes” schtick. I mean I’m not here to judge.
Blind Folded Gaming
Ok, so here’s one that probably won’t work, but have you ever thought about playing some blindfolded gaming together? “What’s blindfolded gaming” I hear you ask? Well, that’s where one of you wears a blindfold and plays a game, and the other directs you in what to do. It’s almost like one of those team-building exercises a business might run, only probably a lot more fun.
Just don’t blame me if you both get insanely frustrated at each other, argue and then never want to speak again. Sorry about that one.
Buy a Sega Mega Drive
Who needs all these modern games with all the sexy high definition graphics? Why not scrap all that and re-live your past by buying a Sega Mega Drive for an old school gaming night! Oh, and sorry if you’re in your early 20s or something and you’re now off to Google what a Mega Drive is… Please don’t tell me you’re doing that. Don’t make me feel old, I’m only 29 for christ’s sake!
Complete a Classic Co-op Campaign
So you don’t want to buy a Mega Drive, blindfolding didn’t work, you can’t visit the arcade, Pokemon Go is dead and you’re not into cosplay. Well I guess you’ll have to find a game with a banging co-op campaign and pull an all nighter completing it together!
I’d highly recommend the first Gear of War game… But again, that might be because I’m old.
This is also the perfect suggestion if you’re after some free gamer dating in the online world and want the date to be online too! Just grab your head, maybe give each other a Zoom call and play a campaign together.
Go Old School with a Board Game
So here’s one last bonus suggestion. Why not scrap the screens entirely and just sit down opposite each other and play a class board game? You could bust out some Monopoly and argue with each other, or bring out the chess board. Heck, you could even finish the evening by watching the Queen’s Gambit on Netflix.
