Staycation Locations for 2021

If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say at least 90% of us had some sort of travel plan dampened by Covid in 2020. Whether it was a staycation trip in the UK or something planned abroad, Covid ruined the travel industry this year, but with the news of a possible vaccine rolling out in the UK in the near future, our eyes look towards 2021 and the possible travel plans that might be on the horizon. familycruisecompanion.com will give you tips that can help you travel safely during covid-19.

Whether you fancy a family resort in Wales, a city break in Edinburgh, or even a holiday home on the coast, almost everyone will be looking to travel somewhere in 2021. But for those who don’t want to risk travel outside the UK, then perhaps a good staycation will be in order!

Staycation Locations for 2021

Bluestone Resort

My number one choice of a place to visit in 2021 has to be Bluestone Resort in West Wales. It’s a place we’ve been plenty of times in the past, and was actually somewhere that got canceled for us due to the lockdown back in March.

It’s also ideally suited for a bounce-back due to how well-spaced it is, the fact that everyone has individual lodges and the number of outdoor activities on offer.

Unless a vaccine is successfully rolled out and Covid is really taken care of, social distancing will still be very much needed in 2021. And somewhere like Bluestone is absolutely perfect for it. I’d recommend it pre-pandemic and I’d even go as far to say it’s perfectly fine to visit now, let alone when things calm down a bit.

Short Stay City Break

Something that’s currently a little bit harder to realistically do is a city break. With the higher density of people and lockdown measures, taking a few days to visit a city like Edinburgh, London or Manchester might be difficult and possibly not worth the effort. Why visit London for example if you can’t visit a theatre show or even pop into the pub past 6pm.

BUT… Hopefully, by the time 2021 rolls around things will be on the up and we can start having these mini-break escapes to soak up the culture and excitement of the city.

Book a Holiday Home

Perhaps you’ll just want a change to the four walls you’ve likely looked at for the past 9 months, so maybe something like a holiday home will be ideal.

You can easily visit the countryside or the seaside and book a holiday home to spend your time whilst visiting somewhere new. You won’t have the worry of somewhere densely populated or the higher cost of a resort, and instead simply enjoy somewhere calm a scenic that’s different from your current location.

Advice for travelling during Covid

As things can change on a daily basis with Covid, please check before you travel what the rules are in BOTH the area that you are travelling to and the area that you live in. You might not even be able to leave on your desired date. Which is also why you should probably book somewhere that has a Coronavirus guarantee or at least get some sort of insurance to cover you for it.

And as always, stay safe, maintain social distancing guidelines and ideally wear a mask where needed.

Hopefully we’ll all have a much better year in 2021 and the travel industry and come back with a bang! You never know, this time next year you might be sunning it up in Cyprus!
