Well here’s a slightly weird #MySundayPhoto. In celebration of the Royal Wedding, Rachel thought it would be a nice idea to dress a certain someone up like a little princess. Obviously I thought she meant me. She didn’t. She of course meant Isabelle. But I really didn’t want to be left out!
Why Wear a Bloody Wedding Dress for the Royal Wedding?
Excellent question. For a start, why not? Why can’t a man be a princess? In this day and age where people are a little bit looser with gender stereotypes and gender norms, why shouldn’t a man be able to consider himself a princess? It’s not like I walked down the street like this though. Rachel would kill me for doing that. This is her actual wedding dress after all. But since everyone was celebrating the Royal Wedding, and to be honest, I didn’t really care that much about it, I thought I’d do something a little bit different.
I’m actually amazed Rachel allowed me to wear this. Although she did shout at me a few times in the process. That was probably due to the fact that I was trying a little too hard to zip it up. Maybe I’ve put on some weight! I also got glitter everywhere, but that’s her fault for having such a glittery dress! And let’s be honest, she’s never going to need this dress again anyway. You never know though, Isabelle might wear this dress one day. At least then everyone in this family would’ve worn the same dress, and not many families can say that.
I Love Isabelle’s Face
I love this photo as Isabelle looks like she’s absolutely loving it. It’s a big thing that I love about babies in the same way that I love about dogs. And that’s there’s no judgement. Dogs don’t care what you’ve done or what your wearing. They just love you. Do you think Isabelle actually cares that her dad is being rather embarrassing and wearing her mother’s wedding dress? No chance. All she sees is her dad having fun and making her laugh. And that’s all that matters to her.
Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t wear this dress as a statement against sexism or to knock down the walls of perceived masculinity. I did it for a bit of fun. The type of fun that I want Isabelle to be unafraid of having when she’s older. There’s nothing wrong with making yourself look like a dick. Embrace it and enjoy it!
Well, there’s not much left to be said on this photo. So here are some of the other ones that didn’t quite make the final cut.
