Couch to 5K Week 2: Still Going Strong Despite Adversity

My Couch to 5K week 2 certainly got off to a rocky start. We had a sickness bug that took down the house Monday and Tuesday, so I didn’t start my runs until Wednesday! When that day finally came, and I knew I had to do my first run, all I could think about was the fact that I didn’t really want to do it. In the past this would usually have been the end of my running aspirations. I’d say to myself a simple “oh I can’t do this today because…” and then I’d have no motivation to start again. Still…

Couch to 5K Week 1: Starting the Journey to Being Healthier

I talked the other day about wanting to be healthier for the sake of Isabelle. Well this week I’ve actually achieved week one of the couch to 5k! I’m pretty amazed at myself. It might not seem like a big deal, but it is to me.  Week One of the Couch to 5K I’ve been here before. This is hardly the first time I’ve wanted to get healthy, exercise, or lose weight. Wanting to be Healthier for the Sake of My Daughter

Weight. We all have hang ups. Things we don’t like about our bodies; the way they look, the marks, blemishes or the scars. I’m not the first person to say I don’t like my own body and I won’t be the last. I don’t like my legs, my stomach, my arms. I don’t really like my body in general if I’m honest. Well, I’ve now been back in work for 11 weeks after ending my maternity leave. So I thought I’d come on here, take over the blog for a little bit, and write about what’s it’s been like being back in work. It wasn’t that long about I was nervously writing about how I felt before returning back to work. I’m not going to lie, I really didn’t want to go back, but now that I’ve back for a while I’ve started to actually enjoy it. What’s It Like to Be Back in Work After Maternity Leave? When I first went…

Avoiding Negative Association With a Baby

The other day Ross decided to shave his hair off. Ok, so it’s not that dramatic. It’s not as though he had hair down his back. And he only went with a number three all over, so he’s not bald. But to Isabelle, it was a huge difference. I think it’s safe to say she didn’t like it. But luckily Ross knew enough about avoiding a negative association by letting Isabelle come to him in her own time. Here he is with his new hair: Isabelle spends time with Ross everyday. Obviously. Yet something so simple as a haircut had…
