The French crop 

The French crop is a timeless classic. Like most things French it will always be fashionable. Afro 

There has been quite the explosion of afros in the past few years. This could be its own article since there is a lot to play with there. Afros come in plenty of different styles in themselves, but some are coming with fades, with undercuts, with pattern, with bleaching, and everything in between. What appears to be particularly trendy for 2022, however, is the cut that Trevor Noah, Childish Gambino and The Weeknd are sporting. For lack of a better term, this unstructured explosion of hair that goes in all directions and isn’t too high maintenance.  

Styled mullets 

Despite the rise of this particular style, we have in fact moved on from the 80’s. Instead of going full business in the front and party in the back, it’s more a case of Zoom meeting in the front, drinks in the local in the back. Modern mullets give structure to thick, curly hair, with a mullet fade and short hair. But the good thing is that they’re versatile and you can go longer if you fancy it.  

Broccolis and perms 

Ignore the unflattering name, ignore the fact that too many TikTok eBoys are ruining the look: broccoli haircuts are in. What is the broccoli look? Well, it’s styles and faded at the bottom, wild and free at the top. It’s a good option for folk that might have wilder hair and cannot be bothered with the high maintenance that would come with a slicked back look or something more structured, while still looking like you’ve got style.  

But maybe you haven’t got the wild untamed curls that give broccoli cut its distinctive names, then why not get a perm? Perms are rising in popularity across genders and is giving men a chance to go for a slightly softer look or something to run your fingers through.  

The slick back 

The faded sides and long front look isn’t going anywhere, even in 2022. And that’s understandable. It’s an extremely stylish look and it can be quite versatile. Maybe you’re going straight back, or going for a fauxhawk, a quiff, a combover, and more.
