Packing for a baby going on a ski holiday can be a bit overwhelming, but with some planning and preparation, it can be made easier. Here are some essential items to consider packing for your baby:
Warm clothing
This is the most important thing to pack for your baby on a ski holiday. Make sure you pack warm, waterproof, and windproof clothing, such as a snowsuit, thermal layers, baby and kids hats, gloves, and mittens. If you’re not sure about all you might need, consult a specialist baby clothing store for advice. You should also pack warm socks and shoes.
Diapers and wipes
Don’t forget to pack enough diapers, wipes, and diaper rash cream. You might also want to bring a changing pad or portable changing mat.
Baby carrier
If you plan on skiing with your baby, a baby carrier is a great option for keeping them close and secure. Look for a carrier from a kids clothing store that is suitable for skiing and that offers good support.
Sunscreen
Even though it’s cold, your baby’s skin can still be damaged by the sun. Pack a high-SPF sunscreen and a hat to protect their skin.
First aid kit
Pack a first aid kit with basic supplies such as band-aids, antiseptic cream, and pain relievers. I know they sell these things abroad, but trust me in the middle of the night when you need the Calpol you’ll be grateful you have it.
Baby food and snacks
Bring plenty of baby food, organic formula, and snacks. If you’re breastfeeding, remember to pack all the necessary equipment.
Toys and books
Bring some toys and books to keep your baby entertained during downtime, plus their favourite comfort blanket or teddy from home. It’s scary being away from home comforts, so bring a little of home with you.
Baby monitor
If you’re staying in a hotel or chalet, consider bringing a baby monitor so you can keep an ear out for your baby while they’re sleeping.
Ski equipment
If your baby is old enough to ski, you’ll need to rent or purchase ski equipment. This includes skis, boots, and poles.
Remember to pack everything in a sturdy, waterproof bag, and try to pack as light as possible. Packing cubes help keep everything in categories, plus pack an empty packing cube for dirty laundry. Happy skiing!
