One of the easiest parts of a house to get dirty has to be the carpets. From high foot traffic to unruly toddlers, carpets can very easily become dirty and in dire need of some maintenance. But don't panic - not that you was - I'm here to provide you with a few top tips to bring those carpets back to life and have them looking new in no time!

Use a Professional cleaning machine like the Rug Doctor

If you really want to give your carpets new life then the best solution would be to give them a professional clean. Whilst using something like the Rug Doctor – we’ve even tried and tested the Rug Doctor – might set you back a fair few quid, it will leave you with a seemingly brand new carpet.

Buy products specifically designed to clean Carpets

If you don’t quite have the budget for one of the actual Rug Doctor machines, or you don’t want to rent one, then perhaps another solution is to simply purchase the other products they have for sale.

How many of us simply resort to baby wipes or some sort of multi surface spray when it comes to cleaning marks off the carpet? I know I occasionally do. Does it work? Sometimes it does. But not quite in the same way as specifically designed products do.

Clean any mess quickly

Here’s a simple solution for you. If you want cleaner carpets then don’t let stains set in. As soon as something is spilled immediately get to work on cleaning it up.

If you have cleaning sprays lying around then simply soak up any spills with some kitchen roll or a cloth, then spray the area with stain remover and rub in a circular motion to prevent if from spreading further.

Have a “No Shoes in the House” Rule

One simple way of maintaining the cleanliness of your carpets is to simply avoid letting them get dirty in the first place. Having a simple rule like “no shoes in the house” will easily reduce the amount of dirt and mud that gets dragged through the house.

Vacuum your carpets regularly

One very simple way of maintaining your carpets is to just vacuum them as often as possible. Obviously don’t do the whole house on a daily basis. Not unless you really have some messy people living with you. But if you don’t want dirt and dust to build up, then just get rid of it before it gets too much.

Replace all your carpets with laminate flooring

Looking for a solution that’s totally cheating? Why not just replace all of your carpets with laminate flooring and then you don’t have to worry about cleaning carpets any more. Genius? I think so. Does this really count as a solution to better carpet maintenance? No. But it’s a solution none the less.
